Traditional Maori Dances (Kapa Haka)

The native culture in New Zealand comes from the Maori Tribe. The Terrace School uses the Maori language in several of their daily activities, including morning meeting, closing, lining up, standing quietly, etc. The Kapa Haka is a dance/chant done to show how strong and manly the men are and how soft and gentle the women are. This past weekend, I was able to attend a Kapa Haka festival, where schools from all around the area performed traditional Maori dances.

Check out the Terrace School's awesome performance! They have 109 students participate, the largest group!
