Wanaka

As the weeks seem to get busier and busier, I have been slacking on my blog posts! This one, therefore, is from last week’s adventure: Wanaka.
Last week was especially busy, as my supervisor, Lisa Norris, flew out to observe all of the student teachers teach. She arrived Saturday morning, so we went up to Queenstown early to get in a little shopping (of course) and then toted her from the airport around town. We introduced her to Fergburger, one of our favorite places, and then back home. Along the way, we stopped at the bungy jumping bridge and Roaring Meg, big highlights on the drive from Queenstown to Alex. We showed her around the school and got her “accustomed” to driving on the opposite side of the road. (I don’t know if it is something we will every feel completely comfortable doing!)
The next morning we awoke early to head to Wanaka. Wanaka is about an hour drive (the same distance as Queenstown) just in the opposite direction. The drive there is absolutely beautiful, as the roads are built in the mountains overlooking small towns. When we got to Wanaka, we went to a beautiful lake, walked around to some shops, and then stopped for a bite to eat. Wanaka was small and quaint, reminding me a bit of LeClaire. We finished browsing the town and small shops, and then headed to the infamous Puzzling World. This was a must do from all of the students, so we decided to give it a go!

Puzzling world is essentially a place full of puzzles/activities to make you think and question reality. I was not keen on the tilted house, but the maze, following faces, etc. were all fun. (If you know me, you probably guessed I was not much help in the maze J) Regardless, we had a lot of fun! - pictures are on Facebook.
After a full day, we headed home for some much needed brain relaxation in preparation for school the next day..
